lead glass tinged with the thick treacle like content remains. Hand written label states Balsam 12 December 1821? Original well aged cloth closure, stringed. Base kick up & pontil. Crude. Exc apart from internal liquid tinge. 8.5/10. NR. £40-60+

top of cork (original?). Dark green glass. Double collar lip, short neck, chunky cylindrical straight sided body, all quite crude. Deep kick up with base pontil. Half full with a dark liquid? Hand written label ... made in 1822. 9/10. NR. £60-80+

178. FREEBLOWN UTILITY BOTTLE. 3.6ins tall. Superb squat very small black glass/ dark green form, crudely misshapen with short re- annealed lip. Shallow kick up with sharp base pontil/ cross hinged. Hand written DWB base label ascribes date as 1820-1830. Extremely rare shape & small size. Exc/ A1. 9.5/10.
