Griffiths book accords made in 1930 & costing 1/8d. Some minor top speckling but overall extremely good. 8.8/10.

160. HUGHES CAKES & BISCUITS AEROPLANE. 9.2 x 8 x 3ins. A wonderful period propellor driven silve bi plane - wings lift off, prop section swivels. Underneath records Mansfield made No 4520. Some slight wear & wing scratches but extremely rare - not recorded in Griffiths Decorative Tins book. 8.5/10.
162. SERPELL RACING CAR
top racing car featuring two period dressed drivers printed to windscreen. Front & rear number plate H S 263. Hand written label underneath accords H Q Serpell. NB: Serpells Biscuit factory, Reading, transferred their production from Plymouth to Reading in 1899. Relations between Huntley & Palmers & Serpells were cordial.
A fire broke out at Serpells factory on 23 July 1904 & the Huntley
& Palmers fire brigade quickly attended. The Berkshire Chronicle reported the fire - the like of which had not been seen for some years in Reading, broke out between 12.30
& 1-o-clock on Saturday morning. The biscuit factory was completely destroyed. Overall good, few minor paint flakes. An extremely rare & early biscuit tin. 8.8/10.
