234. SHAFT & GLOBE WINE BOTTLE.
8ins tall, olive green glass, c.1665-1670. Very prominent wide string rim below re-annealed lip. Classic long neck, round body shape, sharp base pontil, full of tiny seed bubbles. An exceptional early shaft & globe, such so very rarely come onto the open market. How on earth did this survive! Minor inner lip decorking flakes and tiny outer lip nibble. A particularly fine example and rare offering of one of the earliest black glass forms in top condition. 9.75/10 NR £4,000- £5,000+
