137. RUSSIAN BLACK GLASS HAMILTON BOTTLE. 8.5ins long. Long necked
  ovate in a black very dark green glass - colour only discernable in the neck where it is stretched/ thinner.Large
capital letters embossed ‘Ф.грахе въ казани’ (translation - ‘F.K.Grakhe in Kazan’) c.1860/70. “Ferdinand-Karl Grakhe (or Grahe,
1825-1905) was chemist and mineral water maker in Kazan, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The glass factory there was constructed at the turn of the 18th century and manufactured a variety of products, for him including these artificial mineral water bottles. The premises were
on Malaya Prolomnaya and Poperechno- Voskresenskaya streets. The poor quality of
Kazan water and insufficient water supply network ensured a high demand for both mineral water and various soft drinks. A
few wear marks but overall full gloss to glass, many air bubbles. A very
