In the midst of another very hectic golf season, you are finally able to carve out a couple of hours to play golf with some of your regular custom- ers. With only a handful of holes remaining, you are one under par through 14, but your attention quickly turns to the weather, which has taken a turn for the worse.
The skies have darkened, the winds have increased, signaling that an impending storm is soon to descend on the golf course.
As the thunder rumbles and your foursome hurries back to the clubhouse, you find yourself wondering: do golf course owners and
operators have an obligation to warn golfers of impending lightning strikes? If golfers are injured at your facility as a result of a lightning strike, can the golf course be held liable in court? These are important questions to consider when determining your facility’s policy for lightning strikes.
