Giant Year End
Giveaway

Like most pro shops, we used to nish the season with unsold inventory that tied up money and restricted how much new inventory we could purchase for the following year. For the past 11 years, our unique Giant Giveaway Day has moved this unwanted inventory so we nish the season with a completely empty shop.
We charge $100 plus tax to enter the event, which is held on the rst Sunday of November each year. We sell between 180-200 spaces for the event and we provide an incentive to register early by providing early bird prizes. The earlier you register, the more early bird prizes you can win. This helps the event sell out quickly.
The day starts with breakfast then progresses to the prize draws. Up to $25,000 in merchandise and services is divided into 15 lots, with each one more valuable than the proceeding, (i.e.: Lot #15 may be worth approx. $600, while lot #1 could be worth approx. $7,000). Buying from ourselves at inventory cost allows us to provide approximately $25,000 in retail priced merchandise.
If we have more money than total inventory cost we will purchase large, attractive items to provide the wow factor. In the past, these items have consisted of at screen TVs, ride on lawn mowers, snow blowers, patio furniture and even memberships.
All participants have their name put into a draw for all prizes. The rst name drawn out wins lot #15 and has their name returned to the bin for the next draw. The second name drawn wins lot #14 and has their name returned to the bin for the next draw. This format continues until all 15 lots are awarded.
After the prizes have been drawn, attendees participate in a best ball shotgun. If people do not want to play that day, we issue them a golf pass for the following season. Traditionally, over half the people play that day.
This is our biggest event of the year and it attracts new golfers, which is great exposure for our facility.
