BOTTOM LINE
Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail” (possiblyjustafterhiskitewasstruck by lightning). At Cronk Group, when we work with clients, we try to help them to answer three simple questions.
The first is, “Where are we?” By gathering data, with surveys, finan- cials, and processes, we can determine
what’s working within our opera- tion and what’s not. So many cliches couldbeusedforquestion#1,but my favourite is, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. And if it is broke, we need to know about it!
In the last issue of GBC Magazine, we wrote about the importance of creating your own balanced score- card. We organize it so that it’s
divided into four critical areas that drive business success: Operational Systems, Employee Satisfaction, Customer/Member Satisfaction and Fiscal Results. By asking yourself and your management team ten questions for each area and then giving yourself a ranking out of ten for each question, you will deter- mine what your scorecard looks like.
