Protecting Your Workforce: Priori- tizing staff education on proactive sun safety measures is essential for ensuring the well-being of the workforce in the golf industry, who serve as the backbone of the golf business. Equipping employees with knowledge about UPF clothing, including long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses, establishes the first line of defense against harmful UV expo- sure in their outdoor workspace.
Moreover, educating staff on the proper application of sunscreen is crucial, given their prolonged ex- posure to sunlight. It is imperative that staff understand not only the initial application but also the necessity of regular reapplication, ideally every two hours, to main- tain its protective effectiveness against perspiration and environ- mental conditions.
Additionally, emphasizing the importance of applying sunscreen to commonly overlooked areas such as the ears and neck can further enhance overall sun protec- tion. By promoting a comprehensive understanding of proper sunscreen

of cancer sent shockwaves through my life. The word “cancer” dropped on me like a bombshell. It has led to a series of surgeries including Mohs Surgery and a complex Paramedian Forehead Flap procedure for facial reconstruction. This arduous journey, both physical and emotional, forced me to confront and ultimately accept an altered identity. Amidst the turmoil, however, I discovered a profound purpose. My battle with skin cancer ignited within me a fierce determination to champion sun safety within the golfing community. Drawing from my own experiences, I am committed to raising awareness and advocating for measures to protect against the sun’s dangers.
 PROTECTIVE MEASURES AND INDUSTRY RESPONSIBILITY
While the golf industry can undoubtedly play a pivotal role in promoting sun safety, it is ultimately the individual golfer’s final responsibility. Armed with alarming statistics revealing the heightened susceptibility of golfers to sun-related conditions, the widespread adoption of sun safety measures has become an urgent imperative. With a career spanning over a quarter century, alongside my fervent advocacy for sun protection, I am acutely aware of the urgent need to foster a culture where the preservation of individuals’ well-being takes precedence.
