Finalist Idea: Welcome to Golf Day
We hosted this event on a Saturday in July with the goal to invite new golfers to the game. We marketed this to NEW PLAYERS ONLY to ensure the players did not feel out of place taking part with others who have played before.
Registration was free and done online. We offered 6 different groupings which provided the players some flexibility on what times worked best for them. The times that were offered were 9-12, 10-1, 11-2, 12- 3, 1-4 and 2-5.
During the 3 hours we spent 30 minutes on the driving range with an instructor to teach the basics of safety, how to stand, hold the club and swing. We also explained the different golf clubs in their bag and when they should use each club. After that, players practiced solo at the range to get more comfortable with the instruction they had received.
Once they finished at the range, players were taken out onto the course and were designated 1 hole that was theirs for an entire hour. They could play that hole as fast or slow as they wanted and as many times as possible during that hour. We supplied rental clubs on every hole and golf balls so the players did not need to bring anything if they did not have equipment.
After an hour on the course, all players came off the course to a BBQ lunch and a mini putt tournament on Mini Devil mini putt course. It was a great way to finish off the experience and have everyone come together with a little bit of fun before heading home.
