can sometimes be very difficult to read employee survey results, but in today’s environment it is critical that we listen to what our employees are telling us, even if we don’t enjoy it.
Here are five ways you can tweak your management style and appeal to your most discerning staff:
1. Create a relationship so that you know what they care about.
2. Communicate all aspects of your business to them – even the parts
that are not their concern.
3. Find out what work modifications they will value.
4. Give them autonomy and responsibility for a complete unit of the
business no matter how small and a way to measure their success. 5. Ask for their opinions and input.
YOU CAN DO IT!
In my travels working with owners and operators, no matter what type of facility, I find that the clubs who have engaged employees who deliver great experiences all have one thing in common. A great leader! Whether you manage one employee or 100, if you (and your managers) are committed to being great leaders, and to delivering a great EVP, you will have greater success attracting and retaining good staff.
Talented people want to play on winning teams, or at least teams that are striving to be the best. How you articulate that to your newest ‘customer’ is what will make the difference. In your employee newsletter, your tweets, your blogs on LinkedIn, your posts on Instagram, all are opportunities for getting your EVP message out there.
