WOMEN’S GOLF DAY 2021
Women’s Golf Day (WGD) is the fastest-growing female golf development initiative. Its mantra is to engage, empower and support. This unique one day event, has a two-fold purpose. It celebrates and supports the women who currently play and it is also designed to encourage and inspire new women and girls to try golf in a safe, welcoming and fun environment. WGD unites women through golf across the globe, transcending race, religion, language, geography or economic status.
The event was founded by Elisa Gaudet in 2016. Elisa has over 20 years of golf industry experience in the United States, Europe and Latin America. Through her international work, Elisa was inspired to create a global event that unites women around the world through golf and encourages opportunities to introduce golf to new players, thus she created the strategic blueprint to WGD.
WGD is held the first Tuesday of June. It is designed to be a 4-hour event with two hours dedicated
to golf, and 2 hours dedicated to a social activity. New for this year was a virtual event entitled WGD Palooza that was created to build excitement for the June 1, 2021 live WGD event. It was held one week prior to the live event on May 25, 2021.
The day started with founder Gaudet pairing up with WGD sponsor Callaway Golf and Top Golf in New York City to ring the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange for the sole purpose of celebrating and bringing awareness to WGD June 1, 2021.
