Strong Summer Offsets Slow Spring
In spring 2017, the NGCOA Canada launched the Revenue Tracker to complement the Rounds Played and Weather Reports. The Revenue Tracker includes a sample of over 500 golf facilities from across Canada reporting total Visa, MasterCard, and Debit revenue from all departments (not including cash revenue).
At the time of publication, August was the most current report available due to the length of time required to collect all the data. A definite line can be drawn on the map with respect to weather, rounds played and revenue in August 2017, as it was an exceptional month for golf across the country with all regions showing an overall increase in rounds played contributing to a 3.16% increase nationally over August 2016.
Weather was a contributing factor as evidenced by the high weather scores posted by operators. As a result of the upswing in August, the year-to-date (YTD) numbers were trending in the right direction. When combining the August Rounds Played with the Weather Report and our Revenue Tracker (most regions showed double digit increases), golf in Canada in the second half of the season seemed to be overcoming the slow start across the country.
Members are participating and utilizing these reports more than ever. Thank you to all participating members for their efforts!
Your Rounds Played and Weather Report information and data requests will be delivered to your inbox the first Tuesday of each month, or you can view them online at www.ngcoa.ca.
