SUPPORT LOCAL AND PROMOTE IT!
Located near the tri-city area of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo,
Innerkip Highlands and Merry-Hill Golf Courses are well positioned
to source from the surrounding agricultural hub.
“Our team has been working diligently to source high-quality,
locally produced ingredients, including proteins, cheeses, vegetables,
and fruits, whenever seasonality permits,” highlighted Fraser Stalkie.
“This commitment has led to valuable partnerships with Canadian
companies such as Moosehead Breweries, Matt & Steve’s Tasty Beverage
Co., NE1 Spirits, and Baden Coffee Company. These companies have
helped us provide a distinctive and authentically Canadian experience
to our guests.”
“A great example of this is our Made-In-Canada Caesar, which has
become a standout feature on our beverage menu,” explained Stalkie.
“While Matt & Steve’s Tasty Beverage Co. had already supplied the
garnish and rimmer for our well-loved Caesars, we realized that Mott’s
Clamato, a key ingredient, was an ironically American product. This
led us to explore Canadian-made alternatives, resulting in a Caesar
that is now proudly sourced entirely from Canadian companies — a
true reflection of our locally focused philosophy.”
To deepen guest engagement, Innerkip added sourcing information
directly to their restaurant menu. By naming local partners and
explaining the impact of choosing Canadian, guests develop a stronger
connection to what’s on their plate, and why it matters.
“We also formalized our approach with a Made in Canada
philosophy statement,” shared Stalkie. “It ensures all staff with
purchasing power are aligned. This is about more than reacting to
tariffs, this is about investing in Canadian suppliers, celebrating local
diversity, and future-proofing our operations.”
ALIGNING WITH GOLFER EXPECTATIONS
By integrating more Canadian brands into your course’s operations,
you are not just making a statement; you are making a smart business
decision. Your golfers want to support Canadian companies, and by
responding to this demand, you strengthen customer loyalty, enhance
your brand reputation, and contribute to the broader Canadian
economy.
The Buy Canadian Movement is more than a response to tariffs
and trade war…it represents a long-term shift in purchasing behaviour
that supports national industries and strengthens local economies.
NGCOA Canada remains committed to supporting members through
this transition. By leveraging the Golfmax program and exploring
Canadian-made options, your course can stay competitive while giving
golfers what they truly want—a course that aligns with their values.
