The Power
of Networking
A Top Benefit of
Your membership
For members of the National Golf Course Owners
Association (NGCOA) Canada, the benefits of
membership go far beyond access to cost-saving
programs and industry insights—they extend into
something equally powerful: the value of connection.
Time and time again, NGCOA Canada members report
that networking is one of the greatest benefits they
receive, consistently ranking it as a top priority in our
member surveys.
Networking with fellow members means tapping
into a nationwide brain trust of over 1,500 golf course
operators who understand the business like no one
else can. From managing turf conditions and staffing
challenges to navigating economic pressures and
shifting customer expectations, course operators wear
many hats. And while every golf course has its unique
characteristics, NGCOA Canada members know that
there’s incredible value in learning from one another.
That’s why networking is woven into every aspect
of the NGCOA Canada experience. Whether it’s through
our regional Spring Warm Up events, Invitationals,
webinars, or the annual Golf Business Canada
Conference & Trade Show, members have year-round
opportunities to connect, collaborate, and exchange
ideas.
One standout example is the Great Canadian
Idea Share, held at the annual conference. This highly
interactive session is a favourite among attendees,
where members share real, actionable ideas they’ve
successfully implemented at their courses. From
revenue-generating promotions to operational tweaks,
the ideas are practical and proven. Many members
leave the session with pages of notes and fresh
inspiration—ready to put new strategies into action. It’s
peer-to-peer learning at its best and a shining example
of the cooperative spirit that defines the NGCOA
Canada community.
Similarly, the Spring Warm Up events—held in regions
across the country at the start of each golf season—offer
members a chance to reconnect and reset. These gatherings
provide valuable local context, allowing course operators
to discuss region-specific issues like provincial regulations,
weather patterns, or seasonal staffing concerns. It’s a space
for candid conversation, shared challenges, and supportive
advice as members prepare for the season ahead.
Whether you’re a long-time owner or managing your
first course, these connections are invaluable. Conversations
with peers often lead to fresh perspectives, best practices,
and even strategic partnerships. From tackling no-shows
to improving guest experiences or discussing capital
improvements, members benefit from real-world insights and
support.
In an industry that can sometimes feel isolating, NGCOA
Canada fosters a strong sense of community. Our members
know they can speak openly with others who truly understand
the nuances of golf course management. When challenges
arise, they have a reliable network to lean on—people who
are not just colleagues, but part of a nationwide golf family
committed to mutual success.
Networking also opens the door to mentorship. New
members often find experienced operators willing to share
their wisdom, while veterans gain fresh ideas and renewed
energy from the next generation of leaders. These cross-
generational exchanges enrich the entire membership.
At NGCOA Canada, events aren’t just about
programming—they’re about connection. And for many
members, networking isn’t just a benefit - it’s the foundation
of their success.
