To stabilize participation and prevent a return to pre-2020 levels, the NGCOA Canada Board of Directors believes that addressing the golf course intimidation factor is crucial. This mindset led to the development of the NGCOA Canada’s newest member program, Welcome to Golf.
“We believe that creating a welcoming first impression is so important and shows a new golfer that the golf course is a place where everyone can enjoy themselves and feel a sense of belonging,” says NGCOA Canada President, Daniel Pilon. Welcome to Golf is designed to help new golfers get comfortable from the moment they arrive at the course for the first time.
“We felt there was a gap in programming that wasn’t addressing a principal reason that potential golfers had for not taking up the game,” echoed Brent Miller, NGCOA Canada Board member. He is also not implying that golf courses have had it wrong all along
