Generally speaking, I think golf
course owners and operators in
Canada are also much more sophis-
ticated than ever before and will
continue down that path. And I
expect that the NGCOA Canada
will continue to support all of those
business evolutions well into the
future.
GBC: Tell us a bit about your family
and how they have supported you
through this journey.
JC: I am happily married to Lynn,
now approaching our 41nd anni-
versary. And we have three wond-
erful daughters, Lauren, Mallory
and Kristi. Being a “Girl Dad” to
three amazing daughters is the most
proud accomplishment of my life!
As a stay-at-home mom, Lynn
has been a big influence on raising
such well-rounded and successful
kids. All of them have actually
worked at the NGCOA Canada
and they have all been very
supportive as I worked hard
throughout my career to succeed
on both the family and business
fronts. I do look forward to having
more free time to spend with family
once I retire.
GBC: Outside of golf, what hobbies
or interests inspire you?
JC: Golf is definitely one of those
interests, and I do intend to play
quite a bit more after retirement.
Lynn and I also like to travel and
will be doing plenty more of that in
the future. Our cottage is also one
of our great interests, enjoying the
outdoors, the lake, the boats, the
friends and family, a little fishing
and snowmobiling. I’m also a
closet carpenter of sorts, especially
at the cottage, with all the
equipment and a constant list of
renovation projects. Music is also
high on my hobby list, including a
cool recording studio that I built in
our house. It’s fun to let out the
inner rock star from time to time!

GBC: As you step into retirement, what excites you most about this next
chapter in your life?
JC: For me, retirement means the freedom to spend more time with family
and friends, while exploring new interests and opportunities. I will also
remain connected to NGCOA Canada in an advisory role, and I expect to
stay engaged in the business world—serving on boards or in capacities
where I can share my experience and continue feeding my passion for the
industry and entrepreneurial ventures.
GBC: Do you have any final thoughts that you would like to share with
your colleagues in the golf industry?
JC: I would just like to add my utmost appreciation for the unique
opportunity that the NGCOA Canada has provided me. It has been a
highly rewarding personal experience and I’m proud of all the business
accomplishments. At the top of the list, though, are all of the great
friendships that have been forged with so many amazing people
throughout Canada and around the world. Thank you all!
