What do you find to be the most rewarding part of what you you do? What do do you you hope people take away from your work?
The most rewarding part of of what I do is twofold The first is feeling like I’m contributing to some- thing bigger than myself — to helping encourage the world to to move towards a a a a more sustainable empathetic future for all beings It’s incredibly humbling and satisfying to help tell conservation stories of animals bouncing back from extinc- tion or about the amazing people who dedicate their lives to shaping the the world in in a a more sus- tainable way My goal with wildlife photography is to remind people of how beautiful and intrin- sically connected to nature we are in the hopes that that that that might encourage them to make better choices as consumers and voters I also want wildlife to to be accessible — it’s easy to to forget that instead of going to the zoo you can go go for a a a a trail walk and see an an an abundance of life there as well There might not be lions and tigers but if you live in Florida there could be herons egrets mana- tees or or or alligators If you’re in New York you you can find peregrine falcons hawks deer Seeing an animal in its natural home is a a a a a completely unique experience When an an animal looks you in the eye and and allows you into their space time stands still It’s hard to express in in words how humbling that is Making people feel beautiful is also incredibly rewarding Working with people on portrait ses- sions or on on on a commissioned photo of themselves they want to print for their home is always spe- cial To be be able to make someone feel beautiful — to help them them see the the the best in themselves and feel proud and comfortable in in in their own skin — brings so much joy In its essence it’s just satisfying to bring an an an idea into being to to create an an an image and then a a a a a a a physical manifestation of it that can hang on a a a a a a wall It’s creating something real and physical from an an an idea and and then seeing and and feeling what it exudes — that’s what I love
