Death March
A weekly ritual.
Tonight thirty, last night eighteen. Photos of the dead, in silence, dissolve on the NewsHour screen.
Those under age twenty-five, always half or more.
Barely adults, lives snuffed out by a fraudulent war.
Their names — mostly Latino. Lopez, Perez, Salinas, Varga. Heroes in uniform,
heckled in street clothes.
Sadly, you’re not welcome here, unless you feed our insatiable appetite for war.
