When I embarked on this book a month ago, I was at the end of my rope over ludicrous conspiracy theories, Covid-45, pervasive political delusion, fallacious election fraud, DT’s refusal to accept his irrefutable election loss, and scores of systemic inequities facing these deeply Disunited States.
In order to leave this gruesome year on a Panglossian note, I chose photos from 54,049 opportunities to relive trips around the world.
With no big idea, no words and no destination in mind, I obsessively focused on seeing – art objects and ordinary objects as art, such as
a cane, doorknocker, padlock, typewriter and stairwell. All were shot with a camera that performs no other functions. The photos were taken in Cambodia, Cuba, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Finland, Madagascar, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the U.S. and Vietnam.
Tomorrow is a new day and a New Year. Reportedly, I feel better now.
