Love & Pride of My Life Pappa
I feel very proud to be known as YKK’s daughter. Pappa,
I have always felt your love whilst you did all the chores of life for us from bathing us to teaching us to cooking and feeding you did everything for us. You taught us manners, culture, values, and etiquette, which are the ‘Pillars’ of my life. Your contribution along with mom in raising four children was immense and an integral part of our growing.
You believed in teaching through example and your decision to educate all three daughters in a Gujarati medium was a proud decision for all of us.
You are a ‘Preacher’ and
a ‘Teacher’ to us. You encouraged us to learn swimming, Bharata Natyam dance, stitching, flower- making and computer etc. I am grateful to you for giving us a complete and all-around development in our formative years of life. You are truly
a ‘Master Guru’ in teaching all subjects. You trained us
to learn the “hard way” by commuting in Mumbai local trains in spite of always having a car and driver at our disposal.
You always told me that ‘You are chanchal, overconfident, and tend to argue with everybody on any topic’. I have sincerely tried to keep in mind your above remarks and move ahead with life.
In spite of your ill health, you were always there for us and never let us feel the dearth of your love and affection.
Whatever I have desired and wished for in life has been always fulfilled by you and
in that sense, you are truly my ‘Santa’ and ‘Aladdin Jin’. Your bonding with Mom was amazing and full of amazing memories. Your words ‘I will protect my daughters and not pamper them,’ is very thoughtful and shows your unending love for us.
Our relationship has been argumentative in nature and your comments about me are true and sometimes mocking. I enjoy and cherish all your comments and derive immense love and feel happy to hear them from you.
Mom’s loss could be felt in your life. I have taken the responsibility to look after your health and emotional happiness.
Your love for poetry has
percolated in our lives too.
“Bhulo badhu biju tame” and “Jal kamal dal chhand bala” are very close to my heart.
Two proverbs which you taught us in childhood: “Health is wealth” and “Money today will be gone tomorrow, but knowledge will always remain with you till the last breath” are still fresh in my mind and I am trying to follow the path suggested by them.
Your culinary skills are amazing, and we relish all your recipes from Vaghareli Khichdi, Vaal Dal, Methi Ghegha, Handva, Bhel, Undhiyo, Bhajiya. You have passion to cook and serve it to all. Bhel is your Sunday special economical dinner for family gatherings. We just love eating it.
Simplicity is the beauty and secret of your life.
You are the most precious, valuable, loveliest, and God’s gift to us.
Love
Babita
