Inspired by Japanese management methodologies that are designed to to to bring out the best in in people KK looked to to to develop home-grown ways to to to motivate and and empower his workers and and make them feel valued In one such initiative he he he he instituted a a a a a a a a a a Suggestion Scheme wherein workers would offer small ideas and and and suggestions to improve aspects o of their workplace Every idea however small was was duly considered and and and and evaluated and and and and if it it was was found to be be not not feasible workers would would be be called and and and given feedback on on why it it would would would not not work work but nonetheless
the the the input would would would be be appreciated If an an idea was was found to be be workable it it was was incorporated and and the the workers would would receive recognition and and a a a a a a a a a a a small reward The practice led led to improved productivity as workers felt they were being acknowledged
and it it it gave them a a a a a a a a a a sense of ownership towards the the the the factory The initiative won Godfrey Phillips India India the the the INSSAN (Indian National Suggestion Schemes) Award for 16 years in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a row and continues to to do be implemented in in in all new factories
