Our feeds have been peppered with microscopia recently, and look to be ever-the-more-flooded in times ahead. One afternoon of late, we found ourselves scrolling through an infinitude of cellular close-ups— pathogens, antigens, and their particulate network—and discovered this baby: the hippocampus (or deeply- embedded brain fold) of a rat, stained with an antibody to light up proteins, DNA, et al. Funny, isn’t it, how it looks so communal and yet so galactic? A reminder that while there are nasty things out there—the poor rats included—there is grand and gorgeous order to our marching onward, a soldiering we hope is unafraid to orb its internal glow, its internal phoenix. Yes! May we cycle ahead! 56
