• KASIA PIETRZKO TRIO (POL) With a sublime mix of harmonic imagination, lyricism and seemingly limitless creativity, the Kasia Pietrzko Trio takes the listener along Nordic soundscapes, but never far from the modern jazz piano trio tradition. ENDORSED BY SZCZECIN JAZZ FESTIVAL, POLAND
• PETRA VÁRALLYAY TRIO (HUN) Blending jazz, rock, metal and folk with 20th-century classical music influences, these former students of Béla Bartók Conservatory play complex but compelling compositions by multi-instrumentalist Petra Várallyay, ranging from deeply melancholic soundscapes to intense grooves. WORLD JAZZ CONFERENCE 2020
Parallelly to the festival, Amersfoort Jazz & JazzNL organize the annual World Jazz Conference, a highly anticipated network gathering of international jazz and world music industry professionals, jazzfestival directors and curators. The aim of the conference is to exchange visions and kickstart initiatives and (international) collaboration on talent development; to build an eco-system of strong World Jazz players from all over the globe, to enhance collaboration on an international level. Festivals attending the World Jazz Conference are given the opportunity to present a laureate of their choice to play at the Sena Performers International Jazz Laureate Festival, which is part of Amersfoort Jazz. The Sena Performers International Jazz Laureate Festival is an initiative by Dutch music organizations JazzNL, Sena Perfomers and NTB, in alignment with Amersfoort Jazz. It relies on the commitment of international jazz & world festivals and competitions.
