retirement planning with a reliable partner
Yes, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, is home to the world’s most famous groundhog, but it’s also the home of the Punxsutawney Area Hospital For the 18,000 residents of “Punxsy” and the surrounding townships, that’s very good news They’ll tell you that, except for maybe one day a year (February 2), their hospital is more important, and more reliable, than any groundhog
Located on a roomy campus at the edge of town since 1977, Punxsutawney’s hospital rst opened in 1889 to serve the region’s many coal miners and has provided healthcare services ever since The next- nearest hospital is a half-hour away and Pittsburgh
is 90 minutes to the southwest That makes the continued growth and success of the Punxsutawney Area Hospital a high priority for their staff and area residents alike
“The hospital is the heart of a community,” explains full-time emergency physician Clark Simpson “Aside from being a huge employer, we’re lucky to have
a real full-service provider located here, delivering obstetrics, surgery, ophthalmology – a wide range of services ”
Providing that kind of health care takes a dedicated team of professionals, and Punxsutawney Area Hospital has long known that taking good care of its employees is the best way to serve the community Providing greater nancial security gives staff the con dence to focus on their mission
The hospital rst turned to Ameritas for help with employee retirement planning in 1972 For the last 36 years, that relationship has been managed by nancial professional Jim Curtis, who also provides individual nancial planning services for many of the hospital’s close-knit family of 395 employees
“Jim is well-known and a familiar face at the hospital,” says Barb Kostok, human resources director “He comes onsite several times a year to give nancial education presentations to the staff, and is always available at his of ce and by phone We know we can trust Jim with our retirement plan ”
According to Jim, a 43-year relationship is almost unheard of in this industry and he knows what’s behind it “Ameritas is an extension of the hospital
Our culture and values are aligned We’re very responsive and have earned the hospital’s trust, year after year We’ve been fortunate to have a loyal client who realizes just how many things go into making it all work ”
The hospital staff seems to be just as comfortable with the relationship “It’s very important to know I’ll be able to rely on myself when I retire and that I don’t have
to worry about what my money is doing today,” says Shelley Adamson, a respiratory therapist for the last 20 years “I wouldn’t mind working until I’m at least 65, but then I want to retire and go traveling I want to see more of the world ”
“It’s very important to know I’ll be able to rely on myself when I retire and that I don’t have to worry about what my money is doing today.”
“For life insurance products and nancial investments, Ameritas provides security and peace of mind,” explains Clark Simpson “If something happened to me tomorrow, my family would be taken care of and able to move forward And in retirement, I’ll be able
to do all those things I don’t have time for while I’m working because I’ll be where I need to be nancially It’s really comforting to know Jim is watching out for my nancial health ”
