Powfu’s “death bed (coffee for your head)” does a rare thing, as it debuts at #1, dethroning Billie Eilish. It really is the best thing about music that you just don’t know what’s going to come next. Mom+Pop’s Ashe also has a streaming monster with “Moral of the Story,” with around 5m streams. Columbia’s 24KGoldn also has a major debut with “City Of Angels” with close to 5m. Finneas’ Let’s Fall In Love For The Night” (AWAL) has been a steady winner with streaming. S-Curve’s AJR’s seems to win in all the metrics with “Bang!” as their new meme has been a giant at Tiktok. Joji’s “Run” (88rising/12Tone) has also been holding steady with about 1.5m.
Many congrats to Warner’s Rob Goldklang for going #1 with Sub Urban’s “Cradles,” as this one has been a stream- ing winner from the word go. Island/Republic’s The Killers have a real good debut with their new single, “Caution.” We’re also seeing Spotify love with Head & The Heart’s “Honeybee” (Warner) and Republic’s Glass Animals with “Your Love (Déjà vu).”

It’s always good for a clue as to what is happening with callout research as it pertains to radio. I dig the overall breakdowns of 18-34 and 25-34:

Coffee For Your Head
In 2017, an artist named beabadoobee released an acoustic ballad titled “Coffee.” A few years later, producer Otterpop sampled the hook into a beat. When a young Canadian artist, Powfu, sang and rapped over the beat and released it last February, it started getting popular. One year later, “death bed (coffee for your head)” has become HUGE!
So who is Powfu?
Bursting out of the lo-fi hip hop scene, the 20-year-old up and comer first started recording in the basement of his parents’ home. Hailing from Fraser Valley, BC, Canada, Powfu started releasing music on Soundcloud while still in high school after stealing his dad’s mic and purchasing a laptop, as recording quickly became his favorite hobby. After finalizing his image and sound, his numbers started rapidly increasing as he gained millions of streams over multiple platforms.
Why should we get to know Powfu?
It has the ability to be a Top 10 record and more. It’s already the #1 alternative streaming record this week with over 6m streams on Spotify and Apple alone. It was one of the Most Added records this week, which features the best the format has to offer. It’s already #18 in audience at radio. And in total spins, it’s just a baby at #35, so the sky is the limit! Columbia’s Lisa Sonkin and Darice Lee have a fun one on their hands!!!
