I have one shadow like everyone, It takes my shape when there is sun. But even when the sun is gone, Another shadow follows on. A silent shadow made of mist, Invisible, but does exist. The shadow pulls upon my feet, Always watching, always discreet. An unlucky presence of an uninvited guest, Unwilling to permit even a moment’s rest. The steps we take are quite aligned, Yet, its figure does not look like mine. An ordinary shadow takes your shape, My extra shadow is just a cape. A cape that stays to steal a glow, And make me question what I know. For if my day contains less light, My optimism is less bright. Preventing my hope for right, Stuck with an extra shadow day and night, But only seen with my sight.
