Page 80 - Labyrinth--Suburban Stardust
P. 80

I feel a tremor, a shake
A harrowing break
My one connection to refuge Shattered and fading
My eyes chase the writhing tether That fails to resist the maw of the void Will it come back to me?
I drift further in this ceaseless torrent My mind wanders, moving for me But the stars smile like white teeth Beaming and welcoming
And I become one of the little lights A distant roaring yet fading life Will I resist it?
It’s cold, my body is numb I struggle to think
As the void consumes me: Shallow breaths
Shallow breaths
Will the smallest breaths Never save me from death?
My lungs shake
Slowing down, freezing
And my mind is slipping further All the stars are dimming
Will I be lost forever?
Far in the darkness
I see a pinprick of light
Folding back the curtain of shad- ows
Will it come to me?
Reaching out weakly
I long to touch it
But my fingers blur in my vision Will it find me?
