The Flight to Power Hanyya Alnajjar We’re flying through this journey called life until we reach the end. We experience these clues we cannot quite comprehend. As youths, we begin to design the plane. Believing we can design anything that comes to our brain. We shouldn't have to hold back the thoughts that propel Us to keep living until after the bell. They always say there's a time and place. Then why do I feel like I’m in a chase? Running to find where I can hide to find a place where I can just lie, Why do I feel that I need to fly in order to find a place in which I need not cry? Due to that, I’ll continue to fly. I promise you I’ll always try. As teens, we begin building the plane. We wonder if there will be anything for us to gain. A single letter determines if we pass or not We don't express ourselves because we’re scared to get caught. Why does the world have to judge if I'm not good enough. I’m tired of pretending I’m tough. This mask hurts to put on. I sometimes wish I was just gone We hide and wear black, to show the courage we lack. We hide with fear, wishing and begging it wasn't near, We’re always told things will get better yet they never seem to do so. We just give up and begin to dream while looking through the window. We are told we can be anything yet we feel that I’ll always be nothing. It's not fair, but in this world what really is? 45
