49 The Real Me Mary Gogola I’m the quiet girl in the back The one that doesn’t give feedback Who doesn’t like to speak And is thought to be a freak I’m the girl you don’t know The one who goes with the flow Who needs someone to break her shell And get it done before the bell But that was the old me That’s all you would see You never got to know me For who I could be I’m the girl who talks with her friends The one who tells stories that never end Who loves to act crazy And can be very lazy I’m the girl with the wild style The one who is adventurous and goes the extra mile Who now speaks her mind And will never again be left behind You were the one who left me We parted like the Red Sea You never got to see me transform And take on this new form I am the caterpillar that became a graceful butterfly With multicolored wings that take me sky-high I am the ugly duckling that became a beautiful swan Who found a new home that will help me move on From now on I will be the girl I am meant to be And that is the real me
