Narnia: The Mother’s Sea (Prologue) Ethar Hussein It was dark and gloomy outside, as the pouring rain spilled into the sky onto the car window. It was muddy and grey and Zara counted the next raindrop that would slide down the window. As the car came to a stop, Daphne examined the big house. Zara and her parents brought their luggage inside and hung up their coats. They were still waiting for their moving truck to come. Zara made a full turn and absorbed the new house she lived in. “Go ahead. Lunch will be ready in 15 minutes,” said her mum. Daphne decided to explore the house. The dark burgundy wooden floor echoed under her feet as she stepped up the spiral staircase. As Daphne went deeper into the house, it was so big; it was as if the house never ended. There were rooms that opened up to other rooms. Some of the rooms had a few instruments the previous owners had left. There were a couple of paintings hung up on the wall. She came upon this room that had a fireplace and a wardrobe. Unlike the other rooms, she felt a strange magnetic pull and uplifted energy in this room. Everything in the room looked bland, except the wardrobe. She admired the intricate detail of the carved flowers and vines on the wardrobe. At the top of the wardrobe was a lion carved above the closet doors. The closet door creaked as Zara swung open the doors of the wardrobe. “How strange,” thought Zara. There weren’t any coats or clothes, but an empty dark tunnel. There was a majestic breeze that lifted her short brown hair. Zara couldn’t help her curiosity, and she immediately stepped up into the wardrobe. “Where does this lead to?” she thought. She went down and turned right in the tunnel. She saw an opened window with a white linen curtain blowing from the wind outside. In between the two windows was a wooden built door, which was surprising, considered that the rest of the house was rustic and luxurious. 75
