NOTHING RHYMES
WITH PURPLE
you make me feel blue
you make me feel like the sky and the wind pushing the clouds and blowing away the lines I drew in the sand you stepped over its ghost and we merged into one skel- eton hiding in the closet when we heard my dad pulled into the driveway.
you make me feel blue
you make me feel like the vibrant blossom in the sea of weeds
we clip the white roses and watch them slowly die in a vase as we let the grove to itself
and we appreciate flowers more when they’re dying because their beauty is limited and that’s what should be preserved in our heads
soon the weeds swallows over the flower’s petals
the garden floor looks like vomit.
you make me feel blue
you make me feel like the dark contrast to the stars in the night sky
dead stars still shine and galaxies are hidden from the bare eyes as we decide it’s too cold out to go stargazing
I go by unnoticed and light pollution soon erases me from existence.
you make me feel blue
you make me feel like the pacific, waves at peace rolling onto the shores
but then the wind pushes and pushes until a minuscule knoll turns into a giant tsunami that wipes out half the world and my tears are tiny drops in a giant ocean.

you make me feel sad, and that’s about it.
