been tested and then tested again to ensure that they work with our customised
version of WordPress and are approved plugins. More plugins will be added in
the future to extend the capabilities of the SiteWorks system even further.
When we go live with Release 1 there will be two additional plugins on the Plugin
menu. They will be used on all production sites are called "LiteSpeed Cache" and
"MainWP Child".
• The "LiteSpeed Cache*" plugin helps improve the website performance by
avoiding unnecessary regeneration of page content.
• The "MainWP Child" plugin allows the website to be kept up to date with
security fixes and updates.
These plugins must not be deactivated and their settings must not be changed
unless specifically instructed to do so by the SiteWorks support team. These
plugins will only be visible to a user with the role of 'administrator'.
* At the time of writing there have been performance issues with LiteSpeed
Cache and this plugin has been temporarily disabled until a solution is found.
Non-u3a Plugins Warning
Thousands of 3 party plugins are available but these have not been tested to
rd
work in combination with the u3a plugins. The installed plugins are currently the
only items recommended by the SiteWorks team for use on migrated u3a sites.
Any plugin that you install has the potential to corrupt your WordPress
installation, disfigure your site, compromise any personal information you may
hold on the site, embed malware or allow your site to be used by hackers for
nefarious purposes. Having said that, the facility to add plugins to WordPress is
one of its greatest features and means you can easily tailor your website to meet
your specific needs.
Web Managers may install other plugins at their own risk, but some external
plugins may corrupt the u3a plugin functionality. Before raising any support
issues regarding u3a SiteWorks, users must disable any such additional plugins
and confirm that the issue still occurs.
Despite the above it has been found that Web Managers are trying out additional
non-u3a plug-ins on their server sites and putting their sites at risk. Please
review the Notice below. You will also find this in the plug-in area of the User
Guide.
