What drove you to pursue photography?
I have to say that being a part of those special moments and capturing them to tell a
story, drove me to pursue a career in photography. I get invited to all the
parties I probably would have been apart of anyways.
Your work ranges from personal projects to portraits;
how do you define yourself as a photographer?
And for those of us outside the business, can you explain what that is?
To me, photography is an “emotion”! Being able to capture emotions in its rawest form and allowing my viewers to tap into that very moment without actually being there are all key to defining my photography style.
Who/where do you get
your inspirations from when shooting?
My clients! I try to build a report
with them before the shoot and
get to know them a little more
than I probably need to, but that’s my process. That way, I have a better understanding of what it is they want within their imagery and so on.
Do you remember your first shoot? If so, what was it?
Yes, with a random model that
didn’t know how to model,
I wanted to be like other photographers and shoot hot models. Now that I look back at the shoot, and similar work from other photographers, I can tell you it was a terrible start (laughs).
Through
your
work, you
genuinly
like to
capture
every
moment
Both subtle
and impactful.
While on set, when
do you find pivotal moments to take these memorable shot?
Thank you for noticing! A pivotal moment usually happens when I know that it will have emotion in it, from laughter
to being annoyed, being fierce, or even being tired. Every aspect of how the
individuals feel during a photo session can bring out these subtle
yet impactful moments.
In three words, describe your photography style?
Emotional, Exciting, Dope (laughs)
What, so far, has been the biggest
challenge for you as a photographer?
I would say either marketing or editing. Trying to find new ways to display
my work across
social media and redefining my images’
look and style have been a challenge.
But I am learning as I progress through these
challenges.
What’s the best advice you can give to up and comers in
the same field of study?
Find a couple of photographers that best fit your style or
aesthetics, and study them. Learn how they edit, what time of day they
shoot, what equipment they used, and why they use it. Necessarily,
you’ll get a mentor. And hopefully, they will be willing to guide you
through your photographic journey.
Do you have any projects you’re currently working on?
I am currently doing some charity work and events in Jamaica since that’s
where I am from. I get involved with organizations that
help and make sure kids have school supplies, clothes, and shoes they need to go to
school.
Lastly, if someone wanted to hire you as a photographer, how can
they reach out to you?
Simple, either reach me via Social media IG: @SiNuchi, Twitter: @SiNuchiSMG, or Email: SiNuchiSMG@ gmail.com. My website is SiNuchi.com.
