Meet New Future Leader! N.E. USA!
I graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Policy and a minor in Law on a full scholarship as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar. Prior to attending Brandeis, I grew my passion for community service by
working as a legal
intern for the Village of
Hempstead Court and
Hempstead Community
Development Agency. I
have a long-standing
dedication to the
promotion of health
and well-being,
especially for young
persons; I contributed
policy
recommendations to
the Long Island Young
Black Women’s Health
Initiative of the Think
Tank for African-
American Progress on
Long Island. Such
policy measures included health, education, and social initiatives. In 2011, I served as a Fellow for a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., to address the social determinants of health by connecting young families to support services. Between 2011 and 2012, I worked with foundations in Massachusetts to fund innovative social projects for local disadvantaged youth. In 2012, I partnered with state representatives to pass legislation that supported students with disabilities in Massachusetts. I joined the New Jersey Homeless Management Information System in 2012 as a Data Specialist and Project Manager. In this capacity, I assist all communities in the State of New Jersey in reducing the number of homeless individuals, children, and families, and preventing homelessness for the
unstably housed.I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Administration, and will obtain my Juris Doctorate in the near future.!
!
My extensive experience in project management, collaboration, and communication through my work under the Department of Community Affairs in the New Jersey State Government has uniquely prepared me for this role within the JDNE. My passion for giving back to the regions that have given somuchtomeandmy family is unwavering, and I have made this my lifelong intent. It is my hope that by
increasing efforts within JDNE, and between JDNE and the USA, that we will
be able to advance the mission of the Jamaica Diaspora. I would be honored and privileged to be a part of this endeavor as a young Future Leader for the JDNE, and as a representative for young Jamaicans everywhere. Although we are scattered throughout the globe, I am confident that we shall continue to move forward as one body toward a brighter future for Jamaica and its peoples.!
