AMY RICHARDSON
Both girls were selected to represent Wales Women U17s at the recent UEFA Tournament in the Netherlands.
They competed against some of the best nations in women’s youth level football – Netherlands, Finland and Sweden.
Sophie and Amy went to Ysgol Glanwydden in Penrhyn Bay and started their football career together at Glanwydden Football Club where they were coached by Sophie’s dad, Gareth Rawling. Since the age of 5 they have been friends and have worked really hard in various teams and within the Wales player pathway to be selected
to play at the highest level.
Whilst both girls now play for separate teams - Sophie currently plays for The North Wales Girls Academy and Amy plays for Everton Women’s Reserves – they really enjoy the opportunity to come together within the national team and have remained great friends.
Amy says:
“I am so proud to play for my country and hope that both Sophie and
I are selected to play at senior level in the future.”
Sophie says:
“I have loved every single minute and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.”
