An A List Event
PWORSCHE KC
hen you get the chance to go to a Porsche KC event you don’t say no. You say when and what time!
Thus was the situation this May. Porsche KC opened its doors to the Porsche faithful to unveil the new 992. Is it just me or is the 911 just getting better with age? I can tell you this, Porsche KC’s parties keep getting better.
My lovely wife and I had this event on our calendar for months. Unfortunately, at the last minute, she was called out of town. That left me with an empty +1. I wondered if I could take a 0.5 + 0.5, McKenna and Kend- all, my two daughters as a daddy-daughter- date. It’s good for them to see my extended Porsche family. And so after a little fretting on what to wear, we climbed into The Ghost and we were off.
Close to 200 people were in attendance andRobertHellwegoutdidhimselfagainin organizing an outstanding event. The food and the entertainment were wonderful, and Porsche KC’s new building was decked out
in its finest array of new 911s.
I introduced my girls to more people than I remember. That’s kind of the nice part about being President or Past-President; it’s the people. Everyone feels like they have a connection to you, and in some ways, they do. It is hard to explain, but it really is like seeing an old uncle or cousin that you have not seen in a while. A quick hand shake and it’s like you are old friends again. It is a neat feeling.
I eventually got a tug on the sleeve of my sport coat. “When’s dinner?”, they both asked. I led them to the first of three buf- fet lines. You have to like prime rib sliced up to make little sandwiches and grilled as- paragus. Robert does know how to throw a party.
While my girls found a table, I made the rounds saying hello to numerous KCRPCA members. The festivities were at a fever pitch when Marion Battaglia, President of the Soave Automotive Group, and Porsche A.G. took the stage. Thank yous and a few
