gracious speeches were made congratulat- ing each other on the completion of the new Porsche KC building. The kudos are truly deserved. The facilities really are impres- sive. If you have not been there yet, it is a destination, even to walk around.
Soon the lights were darkened in the main hall. Everyone thought they knew what was coming. What we did not expect was highly choreographed dancers all dressed in white. While not expected, it did add to the antici- pation of what was to come.
Upon reaching a crescendo, the music stopped. The lights flashed and the cover was taken off the new 911, dubbed the 992. The crowd applauded the dancers, the mu- sic and the new 992.
While the crowd gathered around the 992, McKenna asked if we could go look at a Boxster sitting in the outside display area. You see, McKenna’s Grandma has a 1999 Boxster. Yes, it is a manual and yes, she drives it to church on Sunday. Point being, McKenna has developed a taste for Boxsters.
She slid carefully into the black and tan interior. She reached for the steering wheel and smiled. I remember riding in my first Porsche, a ‘79 Targa. The sound of the en- gine and the air swirling about. I knew I’d have one someday. I could tell right then; she’d have one some day.
Porsche has come a long way since that ride in the ‘79 Targa. The 992 is a technical marvel, with more amazing attributes than I have space for here. I do ask that you go to Porsche KC and take a look at it. Look at it for its beauty, its technicality and its representation of the 911 blood line. If you do, tell them Stan sent you.
Who knows? You might sit in it and think someday.... someday
