missing out. An autocross is not about setting the fastest time, but in all honesty there is some bragging rights if you have the fastest time, but it is more about challenging yourself. Can you improve on your own time? Can you find a 1/4 second here or an 1/8 of a second there and beat your own time? Check our calendar on the website and come give it a try.
Here are a few updates from our June autocross at Ameristar Casino.
All ‘official’ runs in order of finish......absent my end of day 1:31.0 as I am ‘semi-retired’ at this point! Great timing for my Cayman’s ignition coil to shoot craps the night before.........
A couple of driving observation notes about the participants:
- Brendon Jenks has been sourcing scuffed racing slicks at a VERY reasonable price ($500 for a set!). Note: for the fall DE participants for sure.
- David Rowland’s BMW race car was setting some great times but unfortunately ran into some intermittent starting issues.
- Mike Rehak went on a “cone diet” compared to the last event and scored two clean runs
- Marty Perrrea’s Boxster Spyder was again a thing of beauty and sound on the course.
and attitude all day – all that was missing was a David Stadmueller like spin-out!
- In addition to the BMW, we had a Subaru WRX and an Audi A6 show up to run the event.
- And lastly, it was hot as hell on the blacktop and proof positive that summer time autocrosses can be overwhelmingly warm – let’s continue to hope for dryer weather during our upcoming fall events
