wife and I enjoyed the entire week. She won Best in Class Website and I came in Second in Class for the Der Sportwagen. However, the highlight of the entire week was winning Family of the Year.
Deborah and I were speechless as they handed us the trophy and plaque. We had to give the trophy back and the plaque hangs on the wall in my office. It was nice to be recognized for our efforts that are really more of a labor of love. Love for the club and many friends that have become family.
Speaking of family, my two girls were treated to a fun event with Porsche KC. Porsche KC had an unveiling of the new 911, which is designated 992. As always, Porsche KC puts on a great event. What made it even better was having my girls with me. They got to see first hand the joy and fun a bunch of adults can have at
how different everyone was; black, white, men, women, older.... young-ish, (I laughed at the ‘young-ish’ comment) and they all are having a good time with only one thing in common; Porsche. It’s what brought everyone together. Her attention was then lost on taking the perfect Instagram pic.
But she is right. Porsche brings lots of people together. The KCRPCA gives my lovely wife and I activities we can do together; a fun run, dinner, tech events, and on and on. Consider that the club had 47 events last year!
I look forward to spending more time with my girls as they grow up in the Porsche family. Maybe they need to go on a fun run or two. They sure enjoyed the Porsche KC event. It was a bit of the glamorous life for them. Maybe there can be an autocross and then a DE event in their future. Both would be great learning activities for them. I’m sure their Mom would be proud. The possibilities are endless. For now, I am just glad they decided to come out to an event with their Dad.
One thing is for sure. McKenna is convinced that her first car will be a Porsche Boxster. That is definitely a family of the year line of thinking.
