Monday was a tourist day so we headed into the city, visited the World of Coke and even attended the Dolphin show at the Atlanta Aquarium.
Tuesday was the big day for the Porsche Driving Experience. First a side note. As we were driving to Atlanta, my son calls me and said, where are you? I said we were on our way to Atlanta. He then said, “Oh yeah, that Porsche thing”. He then goes on to say, he had just had his 25th high school reunion and one of his classmates did something at the Porsche facility in Atlanta. He said he would text the guy and see what he did. Well, as it turned out, he was the Center’s Human Resource Director and his mother is Regina’s and my next-door neighbor.
So, when we arrived at the Center, we had a message that a John Hill wanted to meet us. While I was busy lling out paperwork, John comes down and introduces himself to Regina. Of course, as it turns out, John also went to high school with Regina’s two sons. What
was nice was while I was out on the track for 90 minutes, John gave Regina a VIP tour of the entire Center.
My instructor, Kevin Clifford, was one of the Experience Center’s managers (he was a semi-retired pro). After we chatted and went over some of the car’s features, we took off and after a few laps, he pretty much just relaxed and said, “go for it”. I too loved the skid- pad and was thoroughly impressed with the “launch control” feature of the GT3. Given my 996 GT3’s only “advanced” technology feature is ABS, I thoroughly enjoyed and used the full capabilities of the PSM (Please Save Me) and all the other technological features of the 991 GT3.
I too want to thank Aristocrat Motors for donating the Driving Experience certi cates. Most importantly I want to thank the KC Region for deciding that Bob and I were worthy of being the ones to use them.
