TELL THE STORY
LOOKING BACK
A NEW YEAR BRINGS A TIME OF REFLECTION AND A GAZE TO THE FUTURE
EDITOR IN-CHIEF STAN THORNE
As editor of our newsletter, I am allowed a unique view on our club. A view that is both reflective and guiding. Each edition requires a look back into previous editions. These look-backs help me to see what tales we have told. They also give me inspiration into what we can do in the future.
Looking back over 2021, I see two editions of which I am most proud. The May/June edition and the July/Aug edition. I picked these editions for the stories they told and some well done layout and design. (Pardon me while I pat myself on my back on that part.)
The May/June edition has a
great story of Ray Steeble and his 30-year relationship with a 944 Turbo. It also tells of a first time track experience for Angie and Don Woody. A husband and wife team who decided to have a track-date, he in his 996 and her in a zippy Mini.
The July/Aug edition also has two really good feature stories. First up is the young John Cary. He is just entering college, but has been bitten by the Porsche bug hard. He started with a Cayman, then discovered track days. So he did what all track guys do; you buy a track car. In his case a NA 944. Also in the edition, if John’s track adventures were not enough, we have a great story about Scott Donaghue. Scott set out to do the famous One Lap of America, consisting of eight tracks and 3,500 miles. Can you say numb-bum?
Both of these issues gave me an idea. This year I’d like to introduce Jax, a 9-year-old with a passion for Porsche. Jax will be interviewing KCRPCA Porsche owners and reviewing their cars. Check out page 40 of this edition as Jax, with the help of his father Dan, interviews Past President Agelon “T” Jones.
