A QUICK GATHERING
JUST HERE TO CHEER FOR RACING

Club members rarely need much of a reason to get together. The fact that an F1 race was
on TV and burgers were on the grill is all it took to throw together an F1 watch party at then President Fred Quintana’s house.
A number of the club members are F1 fans. Actually, a large number of the club members are race fans in general. Makes sense, right? But, on today’s agenda was the season’s race finale for Formula One.
If you follow F1 at all, you know of the huge spectacle the final race of 2022 turned out to be. The wild ending made for some great racing. That, sadly, was not to be today.
Over the season, Max Verstapen had accumulated more than enough points to clinch the Drivers’ Championship and Red Bull the Constructors’ Championship. With the performance of his car still at the top of the leader's board, he was all but guaranteed another this last race. However, as in racing, you
never know the outcome and that is why we gathered today; to hang out, eat some burgers, and share some beverages along with each other’s company, and see some racing.
If you have not been to Fred’s garage-mahal you are missing out. He had it built specifically to work on cars and host events. Like everything Fred does, it is top notch. It even has a loft where he hosts board meetings and does his evening SIM racing.
With multiple TVs and multiple tables set up, we were ready for the race. Cindy Quintana had plenty of snacks out for everyone. As the race neared completion, Fred put some burgers on the grill. What a great way to spend an afternoon, with racing and friends.
Oh, and yes, Max won the race rather easily. I guess they can’t all be nail biters. One thing for sure, I’ll be back at the next event Fred hosts. Thanks, Fred!
