“Hey! Look what I just did!”
- Stan Thorne
This was not just a demonstration – Stan put on the nitrile gloves and dove in there to do some of the dirty work – with Kris looking over his shoulder. In the process, Stan and the rest of us got a serious case of ‘tool envy’ – Porsche KC uses only the best, and their equipment and the expertise behind it are equally impressive.
In addition to the main event, there were plenty of other cars in the shop to gawk at and drool over. There was a beautiful mid ‘80s 911SC was getting an engine rebuild, a 356 was getting some routine maintenance, several Cayennes were getting oil changes.
As things were wrapping up Stan gave a thank you to all who attended. Robert Hellweg promised us a guided tour of the new facility when they cut the ribbon later this year. That mans we have another fun gathering to look forward to!!

The club received an invite to a tech session for just our club from Porsche Kansas City (Aristocrat), and naturally the club jumped at it. Our normal Sat- urday breakfast was moving over to the dealership for a day.
You can always count on Robert Hell- weg, Rodney Parker, and the Aristocrat crew to put on a great event. This Satur- day was no exception. The turnout was terrific, but then again, there was free food involved. We were expecting the normal 30 to 40 breakfast attendees, but we had 60 KCRPCA members show up!
After hitting the continental breakfast laid out for us like the proverbial herd of locusts on a Kansas wheat field, we gathered in one of the service bays where Robert Hellweg made some introduc- tions and gave an update on the progress of the new Porsche building nearing completion at the dealership. He also heaped accolades on our club for the high degree of participation and support for Porsche and Porsche KC.
The tech part of the tech event centered on changing the oil and some brake work on Stan Thorne’s white 996 Turbo. Our designated tech & tour guide was Kris Loftus: the shop foreman and a Gold Certified Porsche Technician.
ly breakfast meeting. I join 30 to 40 of my closest Porsche friends for breakfast. But, this Saturday was special.
