CHANGING OF THE GUARD KCRPCA TRADITION WELCOMING THE NEW AND THANKING THOSE WHO SERVED PRESIDENT In mid January, we celebrated the Kansas City Region Porsche Club at our annual Changing of the Guard dinner at Porsche KC. Changing of the Guard is our opportunity to recognize those voting Board members who have completed a term with our club in their respective positions. It also allows us to recognize Committee Directors who have given so much of their time and efforts for another successful year of Club Races, Drivers’ Education, Driving Tours, Autocross, Social Activities, Tech sessions, New member greetings, and general club camaraderie. I’ve had the opportunity to get involved rather quickly; I’ve served as a Board member, Membership Chair, Executive Vice President, and just completed a first year as President. When you’re on the inside, the one thing you really get to know is how dedicated everyone involved with KCRPCA is in keeping our club working. But we’re always looking for additional volunteers, as every event takes a team to ensure its success. You can help; we have several committees and opportunities where it’s great to be involved and help. Do like I did; don’t wait to be asked, just show up and get involved. I have had the honor of observing and learning from several Past Presidents; working with Ralph Light, Bob Wayman, Tim Bubniak, and Stan Thorne. Every member I’ve interacted with has provided and added a wealth of knowledge. There are a few Past Presidents that I didn’t actually serve with, but still learned from and value their experience. They are Rob Waldrop, Al Bolte and Sean Reardon. An honorable mention goes to Mr. Jim Shoemaker, who would drive his Porsches past me every morning for years, as I walked into my office for work. Sometimes, I actually waited till he passed by. Agelon “T” Jones 09 16 Der Sportwagen YEARS
