only made it to Devil’s Playground (mile marker 16, elevation 12,780 ft.) due to the snow foregoing the summit. From there we had a great view of the road we took to get
there and Chris gave us additional information about what it was like to race to this point.
The trip down was uneventful, while remaining in 2nd gear to not overheat the brakes. Mary Beth
was a little on edge around some of the hairpin turns, but the view was spectacular. We congregated in a great
Italian restaurant with an area waiting for us and met some new people from Florida.
The middle day was a navigator’s day off where you could sign up
for some local tours, but we chose to do our own thing. I noticed on the drive in that the air conditioner was not blowing cold air, so I called and Porsche Colorado Springs was able to get me a slot in the service department for a recharge. As many of you know, it is always a treat to look around their showrooms. There was a Carrera GT, some 911R’s, and GT3 Tourings to name a few.
The final day we had signed up for the Royal Gorge Bridge tour. This turned out to be the most spectacular drive I have ever been on. This bridge is the highest suspension bridge in the United States at 995 ft. above the Arkansas River. The tour allowed
