  EDITOR’S COLUMN  STAN THORNE be like a Father Daughter Dance. Wait... I mean Father Daughter DRIVE! I’ve told many people that I joined the PCA for slightly selfish reasons. I had a 944 Turbo at the time and wanted to learn more about its care and upkeep. Joining the PCA opened up a whole new world of not only knowledge but friends. After attending a few events with my lovely wife Deborah, it did not take long for her to develop a group of gal-pals. Now she has a group of ladies that she can get together with, though I doubt they talk about which exhausts are best or debate the stance benefits of 18” wheels over 17” factory wheels. The point being that the Porsches unite us, but it is the friendships that make this whole PCA thing fun. wife if she wanted to go. Sadly, she had a project she was previously committed to. On a whim I asked my girls, McKenna and Kendall, if they wanted to go. McKenna texted back, “Me! I want to go!”. I say texted because in this day and age it is easier and faster to get a response from them if I text them. Conference calls and video conferencing have replaced the traditional business meeting and handshake. Texting is just the main way the next generation communicates. Anyway, I swung back to the house and picked up McKenna for the fun run. She was chatty in the car. I told her that she had two responsibilities; navigation and DJ. You gotta have good tunes when on a fun run. Much to my surprise, when we arrived at the starting point there were several other kids milling around. All of them were daughters. I’m glad members are eager to share their car passion with their kid, not only sons but daughters too!
