The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong held The Voice of CMA 2019, an event devised for promoting cohesion and exchanges of the business sector, under exclusive title sponsorship of the Bank of Communications with 30 chambers of commerce and universities as supporters. The final contest was successfully held on 11 October at the Jockey Club Auditorium of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
This year's contest is met with enthusiastic response, more than 50 entities competed for the championship from whom 10 were selected as finalists at the first round held on 6 September. A judging panel composed of prominent figures was formed for the final contest. The members include Cally Kwong the Hong Kong Deputy to National People's Congress, Ip Tsz Kin, David, Deputy Chief Executive, Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch, Dennis Ng the President of CMA and Raymond Young the CEO of CMA. Based on the criteria of intonation, timbre, emotional expression and articulation, Ho Casey Kwan Chun the representative of HKPU won the championship with the song "Slowly". Ho was awarded with cash prize of HK$12,000. The first and second runners-up are Tang Ho Wai from the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong and Kwok Tsz Hin from the CMA.
This year, a "challenge session" was introduced to make the event more exciting, winners of the last two years had an in-situ contest with this year's champion. After an exciting contest, the championship went to Chow Ka Ho the first runner- up 2018 with the song "The Well". He was awarded with cash prize of HK$20,000. Famous singer and singing teacher Connie Mak attended the event as performing guest, she brought the atmosphere to its prime with several songs of all times.
Dennis Ng the President of CMA said the event was originally an in-house contest. Since the CMA upgraded it as an invitational contest in 2016, it has been well-received by non-members and is put high on all organizations' agendas. They always participate with the best singers of all employees as representatives and set the benchmark with for the friendly match.
