CASE STUDY: PAST APPROVED PROJECT
200 River Place
A Past approved residential/commercial development on West Front Street was granted a special land use permit (SLUP) to build a 68-foot building at 124 West Front Street was to be located here at Traverse City’ s most exciting new downtown address situated between J&S Hamburg and the Record-Eagle and adjacent to the pedestrian bridge accessing the up-and-coming Warehouse District.
A ve-story mixed-use development called 200 River Place was originally planned to feature luxury condominiums and lower-level commercial and restaurant space.
Conveniently located on West Front Street, 200 River Place was to o er commercial spaces with 18’ high ceilings.
City and county commissioners in 2016 approved obtaining a $700,000 Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) loan for clean-up on the property. Nearly $32,000 in clean-up has already occurred.
