A Royal Engagement
Tradition among many royals has been a colored-gem for the center of their engagement ring. Blue sapphire is the gem most often chosen for both its durability and beauty.
When we heard of William and Kate’s royal engagement and their choice of a sapphire diamond ring we secured from our archival vault a choice 5.73 carat cushion-cut blue sap- phire and surrounded it with fourteen brilliant diamonds (the same number of diamonds used in the royal couple’s ring). Made in all platinum, this exceptional ring and others are on display in our Portland store.
