Through our three areas of impact, it is our goal to become our community’s recognized
leader in childhood development, in promoting healthy lifestyles and in providing
leadership to unite, convene and advocate for the communities we serve.

We believe all kids deserve
the chance to discover who
they are and what they can
achieve. That’s why the Tampa
Y provides opportunities for
tens of thousands of youth to
cultivate the values, skills and
relationships that lead to positive
behaviors, better health and
educational achievement. The Y
works to close the achievement
gap through evidence-based
programs that improve
students’ educational readiness,
engagement and outcomes, while
helping them grow emotionally
and physically, too.
Additionally, through Y youth
sports, day camps and teen
leadership programs, kids and
teens learn valuable qualities
needed to succeed in school and
life. The Y believes a confident kid
today creates contributing and
engaged adults tomorrow.
As a community leader in health
and wellness, the Tampa Y
understands the importance of
physical activity and a balanced
diet. We help improve the
community’s health and well-
being by providing a variety of
programs and activities that
promote wellness, reduce risk
of chronic disease and help
others manage and reclaim their
health. These include Pedaling
for Parkinson’s, EnhanceFitness
senior fitness and arthritis
management program, Y Weight,
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for
cancer survivors, SilverSneakers
for active older adults, and
the Y’s Diabetes Prevention
Program.
There are significant health
disparities in our community and
the Tampa Y is becoming more
virtual and mobile in our efforts
to build our capacity to reach
families beyond our facilities,
ensuring equitable access for all.
The Tampa Y responds to
society’s most pressing needs,
like drowning prevention and
generational poverty, with
innovative, community-based
solutions. From lakes to pools
and rivers, there is water
everywhere in Tampa Bay. In
fact, our area regularly ranks
among the highest nationally
for drowning cases for children
under the age of four. The
Tampa Y is fully committed to do
what it takes to ensure not one
more child drowns in the Tampa
Bay community.
Our Tampa Y is a leading 4-star
Charity Navigator not-for-profit
organization, committed to
strengthening community, and
is open and welcoming to all.
As one of the Tampa Bay area’s
oldest and longest serving
public charities, we change,
and often save, lives thanks
to the generous contributions
from donors, members, and
community partners.
